who dis?? It's the Cailleach! |
 |
"No! The beggar gave St. Aiden a kiss after the horse was given to him!" - Inspired by the scene in the movie The Secret of Kells where the monks fight over details of St. Colmcille's... third eye? Third hand? |

Despite her appearance and mannerisms, the Cailleach means no true ill-will. She's a bringer of darkness, winter, and death, indeed, but in turn she brings in the new. The Cailleach pre-dates the Tuatha De Danann, and with that comes infinite wisdom. For millennia, many looked to her for guidance, starting a sect within Celtic religion. She had many devotees in her prime, but that would come to pass. As the new religion of Christianity came in, so did the slanderous misconceptions of the Cailleach and her followers, painting them as bloodthirsty killers and worshipers of evil. Alastar picked up on these rumors, and like the village where Colby came from, he slaughtered the devotees. All but one, as Arran barely made it out alive. Trapped in a dying faith many years later, Arran pleaded to Colby to join him as a devotee, but Colby refused, seeing that his destiny lay elsewhere than in the dark cave where the Cailleach resided. In a moment of despair, Arran felt the Cailleach's presence. "Times change, Arran. And I am the bringer of change," the Cailleach said, watching Colby make his leave. |

Hey look, it's that smug cat but it's Odhrán in that AU. |
 |
Faolán's in the India AU as well. Despite living in a boarding school in Varanasi, he finds the student life very dull and boring. After all, he's in India! A place of adventure and mystery with many secrets waiting to be revealed, and it's literally outside of his window! So he sneaks out between classes to explore. In one instance, he found himself to be lost, so he walked alongside the ghats to find his way back to his dorm. There he met Odhrán quietly meditating. Although Faolán knew enough Hindi to get around, his accent was an ungodly sound to Odhrán's ears, so they resorted to communicating in silence. And over time, they became close friends despite their differences. |
